About rings by Sharon Teaman
A ring is the hardest thing a jeweler makes. It sits on the most mobile part of the body, takes more abuse than any other piece, and has to look right from every angle — including the one the wearer sees looking down at their own hand. Sharon carves the wax for each ring by hand, which means the shank, the shoulders and the setting are shaped to the specific stone rather than adapted from a template.
That approach shows up in the details: bar settings that hold a long tourmaline without hiding it, shanks that taper so the ring sits flat, and bezels deep enough to protect a softer stone without burying it. Where a design benefits from CAD — a repeated element, a precise fit against an existing band — she uses it, then finishes at the bench.
