Sharon's daughter grew up under the bench, chasing down diamonds that had rolled away. She went to London, earned her gemology certification, and built the next version of the family business. It is called Ring Mint, and it is very good at what it does.
Two generations, one trade
Sharon Teaman started making jewelry in 1974. Her daughter, Chloé Alpert, was at her first jewelry show at five days old, and spent a childhood in the studio watching pieces get made by hand — and, by her own account, on her hands and knees under the bench recovering diamonds that had rolled away.
Chloé went on to earn her gemology certification from Gem-A in London, and foundedRing Mint to carry the family trade forward in a different shape: a custom engagement ring and jewelry concierge with no storefronts and no inventory.
What Ring Mint does
Ring Mint is a full custom jewelry house rather than a retailer. Pieces are designed from scratch in CAD to the client's proportions, with a wax model to try on before anything is cast, then sourced and produced to order — typically in about two weeks. It covers engagement rings, wedding and anniversary bands, necklaces, earrings and bracelets, and the redesign of inherited pieces.
The stone sourcing is the part worth paying attention to. Lab-created and natural diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, spinels, tourmaline and opal, and the genuinely rare material that only reaches people with the right relationships. Those relationships are fifty years old, and they are shared across both halves of the family business.
No inventory means no pressure to sell you the wrong piece.
